WWE Saturday Night Main Event Returns to MassMutual Center

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) — Wrestling fans came to Springfield for WWE’s Saturday Night Main Event at the MassMutual Center. You could definitely feel and hear the excitement in the room. Fans came from all over to welcome WWE wrestlers in a big way.

The Saturday Night event was a love letter to fans here in the city of premieres with wrestlers coming to compete for titles in the ring with thousands of adoring fans in the stands. Before wrestling matches, many fans lined up to enter the MassMutual Center.

Local fans here are excited, as are local businesses, to see in-person wrestling events after a pandemic hiatus. These events contribute more than ever to energizing the local economy. A longtime fan told 22News the difference between watching TV and being in an arena for a live wrestling show.

East Longmeadow resident Regan Harwood said: ‘I’ve been watching since 1969. I’ve been to a lot of them in this place too. Glad the pandemic is almost over, and I just got back into the audience, you’ll be able to see it live. Watching wrestling live is very different from what it is on TV.

And Saturday night’s Main Event certainly packed a punch. Many fans eager to watch epic competitions over drinks and food and then get wrestling merchandise from the stands. But above all, come together.
