1. Telestrations

Put your artistic skills to the test with Telestrations.

This hilarious game is a mix of Phone and Pictionary. Players roll the dice to find out what they are supposed to sketch. All players sketch something of their own and pass it to the next player, who will then draw a picture of the word they gave. You keep passing the sketches around until they end up in the hands of the original sketcher, who can see how close (or far) the final image is to their word.

There are over 1,700 words in the game, and there are several versions of the game, including an adults-only version.

2. Decryption

Discover the code in a team vs team game of Decrypto.

For those who love word games (ahem, Wordle), Decrypto fits the bill. Each team draws four cards and both teams try to guess the opposing team’s code. Up to eight players can participate in each game. Reviewers say it’s very similar to Codenames, only better.

“Components are really fun,” one person said. “Each team receives a card holder consisting mainly of 3D glasses. The cards are almost unreadable until you insert them, which is a great idea. Additionally, each card contains 4 words depending on how you turn it over, so there are plenty of options for [playing it again and again].”

It’s even a game that can be played while watching the Super Bowl because the rules are so easy to follow and you can play at your own pace. Try to take political control in Secret Hitler.

Secret Hitler is a game that pits ‘liberals’ against ‘fascists’ – two roles players take on – as they try to figure out which player is Hitler’s secret. Players then try to figure out who has what role based on the laws they are trying to pass, and try to prevent (or push) fascist policies. This is a great game for those who like historical games that involve a few secrets and lots of lies.

6. Pandemic

Pandemic is a scary game to play right now.

Pandemic is the perfect game if you want to stay with the theme of the past few years. In this game, players attempt to prevent a disease from spreading through the world (sound familiar?). All players work together to treat locations that have been overrun with the disease of the game and seek out the plague before it takes over. Each player gets special abilities unique to the team that help eradicate disease. The game is long, however, as it takes 12 to 24 rounds to get to the end – sometimes taking months to complete the game – so this will keep your guests coming back to your house long after the Super Bowl is over.
