Tarleton Steer Wrestler takes the lead in event at CNFR – The Flash Today || Erath County

Tarleton State Rodeo continues to hold spots at or near the top of the College National Finals Rodeo event rankings.
Steer wrestler Walt Arnold leads his event after a run of 4.2 seconds in the first round. The defending National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association Southwest Region event champion will look to solidify his position with his second go-around attempt in today’s soft performance at Ford Wyoming Center.
Steer wrestler Ty Allred posted a 7.3 on Monday, good for 14th. He will also see his second steer today.
Saddle bronc riders Brody Wells and Cash Wilson lined up to advance to the event final with the top five second-shot scores on Monday.
Brody is third in average after a 73 on Monday added to his 80 in the first round. Teammate Cash Wilson took a 71 on Monday, giving him a two-time 149.
Wilson returns for his third race on Wednesday night and Wells will be back in the fall on Friday.
Rounding out Tarleton’s men’s team scores for Monday were Brayden Roe, who posted an eighth-place finish of 11.1 in lashing rope, and Brett Stuart and Mason Pitts, who placed 22nd in team rope with their stroke of 14.7.
Roe and the Stuart-Pitts team will see the action during today’s performance.
Individual women’s qualifiers Tarleton, Maddy Deerman and Sarah Angelone, both breakaways, also competed on Monday. Deerman flashed a 2.8 to give him a 5.6 time after two calves. Angelone, who posted a 2.4 first shot, received a draw.
The two will complete their third innings on Tuesday.
The CNFR goes through Saturday.
