Street parties in Turriff for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

A street party in Turriff town center on Sunday June 5 will commemorate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

One of the big attractions is an afternoon tea, which will take place under two marquees – one on Main Street and one on High Street.

There will be two showings – one at 1.30pm and one at 3pm – and tickets are on sale now from Traffords, KJs and Turriff Academy at £10 for adults and £5 for under-12s.

Those who attend afternoon tea will receive a special commemorative gift.

With the roads closed, afternoon activities will resemble the city’s annual May Day extravaganza with a variety of entertainment and stalls.

Beginning at 1 p.m., revelers can enjoy a host of local entertainment outside Turriff Dental Care, including dancers from the Yvonne Milne School of Dance and music from Turriff Community Singers, Turriff Silver Band and an Elvis tribute act.

There will also be a touch of magic with magician Dean Spruce.

Deveron FM will be on hand at the corner between the two streets to update everyone on the day’s events.

Elsewhere on the street, there will be a selection of stalls offering fun activities for all ages run by local community groups.

Any community group interested in having a free fundraising booth should contact Rose Logan at: [email protected], or can get in touch through the Turriff Business Association Jubilee event on Facebook.

There will also be a bouncy castle and disco dome, as well as a cotton candy stand and the chance to get braids or glitter tattoos.

At 2:45 p.m., anyone wearing royal-themed fancy dress is invited to turn up at the Deveron FM booth to be considered for a prize.
