Good news! The Center County Recycling and Refuse Authority will host its annual household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event this spring. It’s time to start cleaning up those basements, sheds and garages. Remember to also look under your sinks.

There is a very important message that I must convey: pre-registration is mandatory to attend our HHW event. Pre-registration is quick, easy, online and opens March 1.

How to pre-register for RDD

All information about the event and pre-registration are available at The pre-registration link (opening March 1) is simple and only takes a few minutes. During the pre-registration process, you will register for a time on April 29 or 30 to bring your acceptable household hazardous waste to our facility at 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte, for proper disposal.

Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email with your ticket that secures you a seat at our HHW event. Bring your ticket with your items to our location on the chosen day/time and we will pick up your RDD items. We work with a New Jersey company that will properly dispose or recycle your household hazardous waste.

Once you enter our facilities on the day of the event, there will be strict guidelines to follow such as:

Once checked in, drive to the drop-off area, where you will open your trunk. The workers will remove the items from your trunk or truck bed and you’ll be on your way!

We have just over 1,000 places open over the two-day event, and we average 1,000 cars each year, so be sure to register to secure your spot at this free event. Just go to to register on or after March 1.

No Internet?

If you don’t have internet, we’re here to help! Call our office at 814-238-7005 and we can check you in and send you a ticket.
