PlayStation bosses at Sony have shared that PSVR 2 will have over 20 “first-party and third-party major games” at launch.
This comes from Sony’s recent 2022 business briefing (opens in a new tab), released earlier this week. As you can see from the slide below, PlayStation has huge plans for PSVR 2 right off the bat, as there are “over 20 major first-party and third-party titles confirmed for PSVR 2 at launch.”
So far, we don’t have many details on what these “20+” games might be. As you can see in the slide above, one of those titles will undoubtedly be Horizon: Call of the Mountain, the PSVR 2 exclusive game that Guerrilla unveiled for new hardware earlier this year.
Right now we mainly have a list of rumors around the new helmet. A report earlier this year claimed that the PS5 headset would be aiming to launch around early 2023, and given that these new details from Sony feature in their fiscal year 2023 briefing, it’s entirely possible.
Earlier this year, in March, developers got to try PSVR 2 for themselves at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. A former Valve writer said it was “so good” on Twitter shortly after, but no one else was as willing to talk about their time with the new headset. Hopefully it won’t take long for us to try PSVR 2 for ourselves.
