On Tuesday night, Jonathan Simkhai hosted an intimate group of friends and family for a surprise dinner and performance to celebrate his Fall 2022 collection debut. This season, Simkhai took inspiration from the geometric patterns and bold colors of the American sculptor Anne Truitt. These two key pieces were stitched effortlessly into the evening with vintage purple glassware, a cool blue charger and a crisp linen napkin amongst a sea of vibrant flowers.
Nestled in the heart of Hudson Yards in Manhattan’s Pendry West, Simkhai’s dinner has attracted notable attendees like Jacquelyn Jablonski, Huma Abedin, Olivia Palermo, Sarita Choudhury, Willa Fitzgerald, Aweng Chuol and Ajani Russell. Guests joined Simkhai for a spicy margarita (or two) at Bar Pendry before dinner was served in a cozy private room.
“I’m so honored to welcome everyone tonight,” smiled Simkhai. “You have all been not only my friends, but also my greatest supporters, and for that I will be forever grateful.”
On the menu are seasonal dishes like a spicy crudo plate, a strip of New York with sweet potatoes, a cauliflower steak with harvest vegetables and a decadent roast chicken.
Keeping the energy alive with an upbeat soundtrack was none other than DJ Mei Kwok. Before the main course arrived, the music stopped while the model and RuPaul’s Drag Race Finalist Milk surprised the crowd with a love serenade. Shortly after, the guests said goodbye and returned home to reunite with their loved ones.
