Neverboard is bringing tabletop board games to Oculus Quest soon

Evernever Games today announced Neverboard, which brings a library of tabletop board games to Oculus Quest.

Released later this fall, Neverboard is a free social virtual reality experience for up to four players. Players join rooms as Oculus avatars and find themselves seated around a table from which they can interact with the games in a realistic way. Check out the trailer below.

Don’t expect officially branded games right off the bat, but Evernever is asking board game developers to reach out if they have a product they think would be suitable. At launch, everyone gets access to a free version of Crazy 8s, but additional games are available through in-game currency. Evernever says you can either earn this currency by playing daily or by using in-app purchases.

Three more games are available for purchase at launch, and Evernever says he’s working on more games to put on the store later. You can, however, play all games in single-player practice mode without purchasing it.

In a way, Neverboard resembles Oculus Rooms, the social VR experience that featured Boggle and others but never made it out of Gear VR and Oculus Go.

There’s currently no date for the full release of Neverboard, but it’s exclusive to the Oculus Quest for now. Hopefully, we’ll see more platforms – and potential cross-play support – announced in the future. Interested in more VR board games? Check out our list of the best titles on Oculus Quest.
