That is, before he even more recently reversed course and announced that anyone buying Forbidden Horizon West for the PlayStation 4 would be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free. Rather, it will be a paid upgrade for the physical and digital versions of these video games.

“Last year, we committed to providing free updates for our cross-gen launch titles, which included Forbidden Horizon West“, said Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “As the profound impact of the pandemic has pushed west forbidden outside of the launch window we initially envisioned, we will maintain our offer: players who purchase Forbidden Horizon West on PlayStation 4 will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 version for free.”

“I also want to confirm today that going forward PlayStation exclusive cross-gen titles (recently released on PS4 and PS5) – both digital and physical – will offer a $10 digital upgrade option from PS4 to PS5,” Ryan continued. . “This will apply to the upcoming God of War and Gran Turismo 7, as well as any other exclusive cross-gen PS4 and PS5 titles released by Sony Interactive Entertainment.”
