Lincoln Middle School Team Wins National Science Bowl Regional Event

A team of Lincoln Middle School students who recently won the 2022 National Science Bowl (NSB) regional competition will compete in the NSB National Finals this spring. The NSB is sponsored by the US Department of Energy.

“The National Science Bowl is a great opportunity for young people across America to come together through science,” said U.S. Department of Energy Assistant Secretary David Turk. “Congratulations to the Abraham Lincoln Middle School team for their participation in the National Finals! Good luck to you, our future scientists, innovators, and leaders!”

The NSB brings together thousands of middle and high school students from across the United States to compete in a fast-paced question-and-answer format where they solve technical problems and answer questions about a range of science disciplines, including biology, chemistry, Earth and space. science, physics and mathematics.

The winning teams from each of the regional middle and high school competitions will advance to compete in the NSB Virtual National Finals, where the top eight middle school and top eight high school teams will be determined. For all middle school regional winners, the virtual national final will take place on May 7, while for high school regional winners, the virtual national final will take place on May 21.

The top eight college and high school teams will compete in person at the NSB Championship Tournament to be held July 8-12 in Washington, D.C.

Teams will receive at least $500 and up to $3,000 for first place to be used for their school’s STEM activities, and the bragging rights that come with the prestige of winning the national championship.
