Labor Day Block party and soul food contest

The community can expect to see interactive art, therapy sessions, live music, and more.

MACON, Ga. — On Mondays in Macon, families can enjoy Labor Day fun and soul food.

At the Macon Arts Alliance Center on Clinton Street, you can catch a cool block party and soul food contest hosted by Mark Wingfield and a few other partners.

Mark says the community can expect to see interactive art, therapy sessions, live music, and more.

Let’s not forget the culinary competition!

Mark says they have over 10 cooks entering the contest and there will be 3 winners.

Each will receive a trophy and a gift card, including a $100 for Sam’s Club.

During the event, 50 bags of food will also be distributed to 50 families, provided by Fathers Among Men.

Mark says he wants the community to hold this event his whole life.

“Bring all sides of Macon together to bridge that gap between the community you know, have tangible opportunities for fun and food like I said, and just positive energy to pretty much show what the real story of Macon,” he said.

The event runs from noon to 9 p.m. and is free.
