HMC and Livingston County Health Center to Host Falls Prevention Event – Chillicothe News Constitution-Tribune
Hedrick Medical Center, in partnership with Livingston County Health Center, will host an Aging in Place event focused on falls prevention. The Falls Prevention Fair will be held Wednesday, September 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the gardens of Hedrick Medical Center.
“A lot of things can bring a person down,” says Luci Skaggs, rehabilitation manager, Hedrick Medical Center. “It could be your eyesight, your hearing, or maybe a person’s reflexes aren’t as sharp as they once were. Also, diseases and health conditions such as diabetes, heart disease or foot problems, among other causes, can affect balance. In some cases, medications can cause a person to feel dizzy, dizzy, or drowsy, which can also make a person more likely to fall.
The event will include various screenings and information booths, all designed to help educate attendees about potential fall risks, tips for avoiding falls, and health assessments that can determine if medical interventions could help reduce the risk of falling.
The event is free and attendees will have the opportunity to win door prizes offered by vendors at the event. For more information about the event, individuals may contact Luci Skaggs at 660-214-8170 or Ann Burchett at 660-6465506.
