Cayla’s Power Tumbling, located in Effingham, has announced a very successful 2022 national event with its power tumbling athletes.
Twenty-four athletes represented Cayla at the USTA Nationals in Lakeland, Florida last month.
Of the 24 athletes who competed, 20 placed in the top 10 and received a trophy on the podium. Of these 20 rockers, nine athletes won 1st place and became national champions.
Additionally, Cayla Gym also won two First Place Team Trophies at the Novice and Beginner levels. This means that Cayla athletes competing at these levels achieved the highest combined score of any competing gym.
Livian Sanders (39.7), Hannah Phillips (40.5) and Alivia Shuemaker (40.8 with the highest score at the novice level) contributed to the novice team trophy.
Myka Tangman (38.7), Presley Hallett (38.6) and Bridleigh Stephens (38.4) had the three highest scores at rookie level, helping their team win the rookie team trophy. What an achievement!
Cayla’s was honored to have 2 gymnasium athletes, Jacob Hemmen and Emery Spicer, represented on the USTA All-Star Team. They have been part of the team for two years and have been recognized at state and national competitions.
“To cap off an incredible journey, when the final standings were sent out, Cayla’s was ranked 5th based on a score out of 140 other teams that attended the event,” coach Cayla Myers said in a statement from hurry. “It is enormous!”
Cayla’s tumbling competition team competed at all levels with ages ranging from 4 to 16 years old.
“Cayla’s is so proud of every athlete who has competed in Florida,” Myers said. “Nationals is such a prestigious event that athletes had to place in the top 10 at state championships to even qualify for nationals.
