Brocton alumni group plans July 9 event | News, Sports, Jobs
BROCTON – The Brocton Central School Alumni Association has finalized plans for the alumni events on Saturday July 9th.
All proceeds from the golf tournament, chicken and rib barbecue and donations fund the scholarships.
The BCS Alumni has awarded over $43,000 in scholarships over the past 15 years. The COVID pandemic turned the BBQ into drive0th last year which was a hit. Thankfully, thanks to dedicated golfers, BBQ proceeds and donations funded the 2021 scholarships.
As usual, alumni hope to donate one to three scholarships to the class of 2022 depending on the funds raised. Students can apply through the guidance office soon.
The golf tournament will kick off events at 8 a.m. on July 9 at Pine Hurst Golf Course in Westfield. Contact Jon Espersen at 716-467-8328 to register or get the registration form at bcsalumni.org.
It is $70 per golfer, including golf, prizes and a hot dog and burger lunch at the turn, skins available. There will be a 50-50 draw and raffle prizes. Enter as a team of four, or individuals will be randomly assigned to a team.
Brocton School Superintendent Jason Delcamp will tour the school at 2 p.m. Meet at the school mast in the front parking lot and prepare to be amazed!
The fun continues with a Chicken and Rib BBQ by Weidner’s at Brocton Legion Post 434. Several classes will come together to celebrate their reunion. Those who met last year had fun reminiscing the whole evening. Dinner includes buttered potatoes, coleslaw, a bun and butter with a cookie “compliments from Emily’s Bakery.”
Tickets are $18 and can be obtained by calling Kathy Peters or texting 7-16-679-5814 or calling the Herbert Star Apartments at 792-7585. Tickets will also be available at the Brocton Legion bar, at the Brocton village office or from any member of the Elders Committee. The barbecue will begin at 4 p.m. while seats last. Best to have tickets or reserve them as it sold out before the start of last year.
Please have cash or checks payable to BCS Alumni Association. Lunches can be picked up between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Donations can be sent to BCS Alumni Association PO Box 195 Brocton, NY 14716.
Volunteers are needed to prepare lunches, deliver vehicles and help direct traffic. Everyone is welcome to volunteer, and students can be awarded volunteer credit, which looks good on college applications.
The next BCS Alumni meeting will take place today at the Brocton Legion at 6 p.m.
