19-year-old killed at outdoor event in Southeast Dallas – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

A 19-year-old died after a shooting Saturday night in southeast Dallas. The police ask the public for information and a mother mourns her son.

Emma Campos watched her son, Uriel Alberto Enriquez, 19, go out on Saturday night not knowing it would be the last time.

“I just want my son to come home safely,” Campos said. “That’s all a mother wants.”

Before leaving, Enriquez told his mother he wanted to look good for a night out and asked her to fix a shirt he was planning to wear.

“I usually do it for him and actually got to dress my son for the last time,” she said.

He did not return home. At approximately 1:30 a.m., Dallas police were called to a shooting at an outdoor location at 9518 Timberloam Drive. They found Enriquez in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he died.

Enriquez’s cousin, Mario Tudon, said the family didn’t know much about the event, but reports had made the rounds on social media.

“There’s going to be a group, there’s going to be a group, everyone’s going to be there,” Tudon said. “It’s just a party and I’m pretty sure he thought it would be an ordinary party, just drinking, having fun.”

It’s unclear at this time if the event’s organizers and promoters had permits or if the event was already over capacity. As for who was responsible for the shooting, Tudon wants answers.

“What is the reason? Give me a reason, please. That’s what I really want to know,” he said.

As a family waits for justice, they mourn the loss of someone they believe loved to make their family laugh.

“Losing my son is like someone ripped your heart out,” Campos said.

Requests for copies of the contract between party promoters and the owner were not granted.

Anyone with information is asked to call Dallas Police at 214-671-4236.
